Mackenzie Brodzik
My name is Mackenzie 'Kenzie' Brodzik. I have recently graduated from Oakland University's Elementary Education program. I wanted to be an elementary school teacher because I enjoy working with young learners and hope to inspire them to explore the world around them and help them realize their full potential in an academic setting. As a future teacher, I also wish to remain a lifelong student and learn right alongside my students.

My Teaching PhilosophyMy philosophy as a future educator is that every young learner is unique and learn in different ways, yet I recognize young learners have a desire to explore the world, so I want to create an educational setting where I can create a place for them to explore in both a physically and mentally comfortable way. As an educator, I see myself as a guide that wants to inspire and encourage young learners to explore the world around them. I also want to connect with them, and have them connect with each other, in order to understand how they learn and create lessons that can adapt to each student’s individual learning needs.
My strategies in order to accomplish this would be to design a stimulating, comfortable, and explorable classroom, an interactive learning environment that is more hands-on as opposed to traditional lectures, and using purposeful, yet enjoyable lessons to prompt student engagement. I also believe students can bring their own knowledge into the classroom, and that others can learn from their experiences, including myself as a teacher. My final strategy would be to always be aware that even though I am an educator, I am also, myself, a learner and can learn from my students as much as they can learn from me, therefore can build relationships with them through this rapport. Young learners are naturally curious, and I believe it is important to fuel that curiosity so that it may never leave them. I also want to build a classroom community so all of these unique young learners can learn from each other as well as from me as their educator. I believe that using these strategies will allow me to create a comfortable, interactive, and enjoyable learning environment for young learners. |
